Some Inexpensive Skin Care Tricks with Baking Soda

If you are struggling with acne, adult acne, or a complexion that is oily at times (or in spots) and if you don’t want to spend a ton of money on expensive cleansers and other skin care cream products, you might want to give this a try. Put some baking soda in a Dixie cup, then add some water (not too much) until you make a paste. (You might want to use this in the shower.) Once you are in the shower, apply the homemade paste you have created to your face. If you want to use it as a cleanser, simply massage it into your skin and leave it on for about 60 seconds or so. If you would prefer to use it as a sort of mask, you can leave it on for longer and allow it to dry. It gets pretty flaky (which is why I made the shower suggestion).

The mask is great on its own, and incredibly inexpensive to create, but if you want to make it slightly more potent in the acne-fighting department, you can always add a drop or two of liquid Grapefruit Seed Extract (also known as GSE, and available for purchase online). This ingredient is not as cheap as baking soda (what is?!?), but it is relatively inexpensive and as an all natural anti-bacterial, anti-viral substance, it can actually serve many different purposes in your self care and in the care of your home. (This homemade mask with or without the GSE is excellent as an exfoliant, and it also makes your pores appear smaller.)

If you’d like to read more about how useful baking soda can be as a part of your skincare routine, there are articles all over the Internet on this topic. So be sure to read them, and consider giving it a try. After all, an effective skin care cream can be great, but you don’t want to break the bank spending too much on a super expensive one and getting only so-so results, especially if their are inexpensive alternatives like those discussed in this post.
